The West Bandung Regency government has submitted plans to develop a tourism site around the Bosscha Observatorium, Lembang, to developers.
A permit will be issued if the developer obtains a permit from the Bosscha administrator. “We are still evaluating the environmental impact analysis permit. Bosscha determined that the criteria are no dust, no vibration and no light pollution,” said Bambang Subagio, Head of West Bandung Development Planning, in a seminar in Bandung last Wednesday.
Bosscha Observatorium Director Hakim L. Malasan said he hoped that the tourism site would not be given a permit.
Under the present conditions, sky observation to is hard to conduct because the night sky is getting brighter by lights from residents houses.
